Individual Learning StylesAre
you predominantly a visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic learner?
What are your learning preferences? Which of the multiple
intelligences are you strong/weak in? You will discover your
unique learning style, and then look at strategies to
tailor your learning to suit your style. We recommend that
everyone takes this module first.
Combining Learning with WorkingYou
will learn how to: organise your study time; discover the source
of your time management problems; put strategies in place to enable you
to overcome these problems; develop systems for prioritising;
build a study network.
Active Reading Learn:
how to get the most our of your reading; how to attack a
book or article quickly and get what you need from it; skimming
and scanning techniques; a variety of speed reading techniques.
MemoryDiscover
how to increase and improve your memory. Learn memory techniques
linked to your individual learning style. Practise strategies to
develop long-term memory - vital for successful studying.
Making NotesLearn
a variety of techniques for making notes, both from written material,
and from lectures and conferences. Learn about Mindmapping, how
to do it, and why it is so effective.
ConcentrationThis
covers two areas: how to increase the time you spend at maximum
concentration; how to improve the quality of your maximum concentration.
Essay Writing / Report WritingLearn
about and then practise the five stages in writing a successful essay.
Find
out about the pitfalls to avoid when writing an essay. Learn how to structure and write a polished report.
Revision StrategiesThis
covers: an analysis of your study strengths and weaknesses;
how to plan your revision; how to prioritise when revising;
a variety of active revision techniques.
Exam SkillsLearn: how to improve your exam marks; how to work to your full potential during an exam; how to demonstrate your competence to an examiner; how to write an essay under exam conditions; how to manage your time during an exam; how to cope with stress, before and during an exam.
